Erosion, Sediment Controls, and Water Quality with MWS at the Adventure Science Center

WHAT: Metro Water Services, Stormwater will lead all ages through interactive enviroscapes to show how erosion prevention and sediment controls play an important role in keeping our water clean! Visitors can walk through our inflatable soil tunnel to learn about soil with the National Resource Conservation Service.

Take and Make Instrument Craft

Suminagashi: Explore an Ancient Art with Japanese Water Marbling presented with Studio NPL and FiftyForward Donelson Station

WHAT: In partnership with Studio NPL/Nashville Public Library, participants will learn about the history and cultural significance of the ancient art form called Suminagashi (sue-me-NAH-gah-she), meaning β€œink floating.” Create Japanese water marbling artwork using science and engineering principles of surface tension. 
The program will run for two hours. Wear art clothes or clothing that is washable; ink and paint materials will be used in the art making.

Muse Family Science Fair

WHAT: Muse Knoxville is excited to bring back our Family Science Fair! We invite families to work together to design a science project and create those aha! moments. This project encourages students to think and act like young scientists. As a family, you will be designing a science project that uses the scientific method to solve a problem. We hope that this project helps your family explore the educational benefits of developing skills in writing, oral presentation, creative thinking, and problem-solving. Families must include at least one pre-school or elementary-aged child.
Families wanting to participate in the science fair need to complete an application. No pre-registration needed for spectators.

Proposals will be reviewed by a science fair committee, consisting of members of Muse leadership staff. Ten projects will be chosen to be displayed and judged at the Muse Family Science Fair on Saturday, October 14th from 9:30am – 11:30am. Chosen applicants will be notified by email no later than Friday, September 15th and will need to come by Muse Knoxville to collect their project display board and kit.
