Lantern Parade

Parade participants will line up at 6:30pm

WHAT: Come light up the night at our 2nd annual Lantern Parade! This event is hosted by the Discovery Center in collaboration with the Rutherford Arts Alliance and supported by the Center for Popular Music. Participants can bring their own lanterns from home or make a lantern on-site with our provided materials. There will be an hour of lantern-making before the parade, which will begin around 6:40pm and last until about 7:00pm. This event will feature live music. Food will be available to purchase on-site from local food trucks.

STEAM-a-Palooza!

WHAT: We are throwing a massive party to celebrate all things STEAM! Join us for a day dedicated to demonstrating how science, technology, engineering, arts, and math are used in everyday life. We will be hosting exhibitors from across Middle Tennessee who will be providing engaging, interactive, and hands-on activities that highlight the different STEAM aspects of their organizations. STEAM-a-Palooza is hosted outside of the Discovery Center and is free to the public. Museum admission is available for an extra fee.

WonderWorks Lobby Learning Series

Exploring the Robots, Rovers, and Rockets of Artemis Mission

WHAT: Students will apply design thinking skills using our Engineering Design Cycle (EDC) as they explore the various mission components of the Artemis Mission: Humanity's Return to the Moon. Students will drive lunar rovers on a simulated lunar surface and complete rocketry build activities discovering the aerospace engineering principles that will propel lunar rovers and robots to the Moon and Mars. Students will get to tour the new Tennessee Robotics Center to learn more about our afterschool Technology, Robotics, and Computer Science education program for grades K-12.

STEAM Festival at Market Square

To celebrate TN STEAM Festival 2023 we will host a table at the downtown Market Square in Knoxville on Saturday, Oct. 14th, and have female STEM professionals on hand to ask questions and provide hands-on instructions for our interactive tables.

Airport STEAM Festival

WHAT: The TN Steam Festival is bringing science, technology, engineering, art, and math to life at events across the state! The airport will be hosting its own event for all members of the surrounding communities to engage in the sciences and learn about what the Murfreesboro Airport does for the community. The Murfreesboro Airport STEAM festival will have tons of static displays showing off aspects of aviation to the community. There will be educational opportunities to engage in that will be teach the fundamentals of aviation.

Beyond the Brush
