Members from the University of Tennessee Extension, Master Gardeners of Davidson County will be available to share their knowledge. This is also a great way to get information about seasonal issues that may impact your growing conditions.

Construct Nashville LLC. - Flip Your World Upside Down with Breakdance & Capoeira!

WHAT: This event will introduce an audience of all ages to Breaking (Breakdance) and Capoeira, two highly dynamic and interactive art forms that combine dance and battle. We will have a few small competitions with a 1st place prize. Beverages and small snacks will be available for purchase.

3:30 pm: Breakdance demonstration/performance

3:45 - 4:15 pm: Breakdance workshop, all ages

4:15 - 4:45 pm: Break, little kids obstacle course

4:45 - 5:15 pm: Capoeira demonstration & mini workshop, ages 15+

Conservation and Art at The Elephant Sanctuary

WHAT: Stop in at The Elephant Discovery Center to learn about Elephants, help elephant conservation, and maybe make a recycled craft or two! The event will be stationed activities around The Elephant Discovery Center in downtown Hohenwald. We will have a conservation letter writing station, a footprint track rubbing craft, and a recycled elephant mask. During this time our normal museum space will be opened to the public to learn about elephants.

Please note that elephant habitats are closed to the public. Visitors to The Discovery Center will not see or interact with elephants.

Zoo Knoxville Monarch Tagging

WHAT: Enjoy the wonder and beauty of flying flowers as we search the park for monarchs and other butterflies. To help scientists understand the monarch migration, we’ll catch, tag and release monarchs. While learning about the importance of butterflies and how we can help them. Expect to walk around 2 miles on dirt/grass trails. Additional date: October 16th.

WHAT: Metro Water Services is hosting a booth and inflatable soil tunnel at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville, TN. MWS Stormwater will have an interactive enviroscape where kids and adults can test to see how erosion prevention and sediment controls play an important role in keeping our stormwater and waterways clean! There will also be a soil tunnel to walk through and learn about the different types of soil.
